To reach this objective, we have put in substantial work to maintain our AAHA Accreditation and incorporate Fear-Free Professionals into our team. We also actively seek out continuous educational opportunities and pursue individual certifications.
Our Accreditations
The American Animal Hospital Association is the sole accrediting body for animal hospitals. Union Pet Hospital has held its accreditation since 1998, meeting AAHA’S mandatory 50 Standards of Excellence and over 950 additional standards. To maintain our accreditation, we must consistently adhere to these standards each year. They encompass various aspects of our hospital and services, such as:

We are Fear-Free Certified Professionals
The majority of the team at Union Pet Hospital are Fear Free Certified Professionals, part of an initiative that educates both veterinary professionals and pet owners on minimizing stress for pets during veterinary visits, nail trims, and other potentially unsettling experiences for cats and dogs. As Fear Free Certified Professionals, our staff is equipped with specialized training to identify stress signals in animals and apply Fear Free methods to ease their anxiety.
Fear Free techniques we implement include:
- Utilizing low-stress handling to reduce feelings of loss of control or confinement
- Employing positive reinforcement to promote cooperation
- Using treats for food motivation to reward pets and create a positive experience
- Incorporating cat and dog pheromones to acclimate pets to the clinic environment
