Meet Our Team
We’re dedicated to your pet’s health!
Scroll down to meet our incredible team of compassionate veterinary professionals. Our Union veterinarians have spent their lives providing comprehensive veterinary services for the pets of Burlington, Hebron, and Union, KY, and beyond. Thank you for making us a part of your pet’s life.
Dr. Ashley DeWees
Medical Director, Veterinarian
Dr. DeWees started at Union Pet Hospital in 2006 after spending some time practicing in Washington, DC and Florida. She became the Medical Director in 2021, but still enjoys seeing patients and performing surgery. Her special interests include abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds and helping clients and their pets with behavioral issues. She has a special place in her heart for patients who have been unable to receive medical care due to extreme fear-based behaviors exhibited in the veterinary setting. She is a driving force in our Fear Free program, and a member of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
Dr. Anna Matchinga
Veterinarian
Dr. Jessica Henson
Veterinarian
Dr. Meggan Gray
Veterinarian
Dr. Gray loves hiking and exploring new places around Cincinnati. After completing her undergraduate at Thomas More University, she received her doctorate at Auburn in 2021. As a member of the Union Pet Hospital team since 2023 she is exploring all the interesting facets of veterinary medicine and is excited to learn new approaches to patient care.
Dr. Danielle Carey
Veterinarian
Kara Alexander
Practice Manager
In 2002, our resident nail polish collector, Kara, started as a receptionist. Today she is our practice manager and works hard to lead by example and keep all of us in line. She loves to be outside hiking, kayaking, and skiing. Believe it or not, she can do it all and not chip her nail polish!
Stacey
Stacey started working for our founder, Dr. Stan Hastings, in 2005 and joined our team at Union in 2006. She is fantastic at reading the body language of pets and has a deep compassion for the more fearful ones. She is adventurous and loves to ride her motorcycle and vacation in tropical locations.
Holly
Licensed Veterinary Technician, Inventory Manager, Lead Technician
After graduating from Morehead State University, Holly joined the team in 2006. Starting as a technician she has worked hard and became a leader and a mentor to the other technicians on staff. Holly’s hobby farm and garden have given her a keen eye for inventory management and multitasking. She does both wonderfully, even if some days are like herding ducks!
Lynn
Licensed Veterinary Technician, Social Media Manager, OSHA Safety Officer, AAHA Coordinator
Originally from Louisville, Lynn moved up to Northern Kentucky and joined the team in 2008 after graduating from Morehead State University. Her strong drive to ask questions, get answers, and know how the world works has made her a “Jack of all Trades”. She blames her first computers, a Commodore 64 and a TI-99/4A, for her interest in technology. Even though floppy disks are gone her skills have made it possible to keep our practice current in technology!
Rachel
Detailed-oriented Rachel loves to be creative with art and painting. She originally wanted to start her own pet portrait business! Luckily for us, in 2016 she stopped in as a Good Samaritan and became interested in veterinary medicine. Her goal is to become a medical sonographer and use that skill to help doctors with their diagnoses.
Megan
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Senior Pet Rescuer Megan has a soft spot for pets that need love in their later stages of life. After graduating from Morehead State University, she joined our team in 2018. Her special focus, besides senior pets, is in the surgical suite! Megan enjoys learning more about surgical procedures and how to better care for your pets!
Abby
Abby joined our crew in 2018. She is very enthusiastic about surgery and anesthetic safety and was the first team member to complete the AAHA Anesthesia Safety certification and her Fear Free certification! She can be detailed oriented while still seeing the whole picture!
Sherri
Mannie
Mannie is working toward going to veterinary school. He moved here when he was just 10 years old and had to learn English from scratch. He never shies away from a challenge and is excited to tackle new skills. He can also be found helping others grow by coaching wrestling practices in the off season.
Chandler
Chandler joined our team in 2021 and is working toward his goal of becoming a veterinarian. When not studying he spends his time developing software and video games. His passion for animals is a driving force to become the greatest of all time in every aspect of veterinary care.
Caitlin
Chelsye
When Chelsye isn’t in the woods camping, she enjoys indulging in her love of romance novels. In 2021, her passion for all things furry brought her to Union Pet Hospital where she has cherished every moment. Chelsye is particularly enthusiastic about gaining knowledge on pet training and behavior and is currently working towards her Fear Free certification. As pets greet her at the front desk, she puts her Fear Free lessons into practice.
Rose
Sarah
Sarah loves looking in antique stores when she isn’t busy studying for the National Board exam. She is working on becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Kentucky. Her current passion (besides learning all she can about animals and veterinary medicine) is collecting antique cameras and projectors.
Vanessa
Sarah
Sarah is excited to learn. She joined our team in 2023 and is learning more about her passions, surgery and dental procedures. In between earning continuing education hours Sarah likes to go on exciting motorcycle rides. However, when it comes time to wind down, she enjoys diamond paintings. She finds them very relaxing.
Kaila
Looking for old “junk trucks” is Kaila’s passion. She joined our practice in 2023 with the goal of becoming a licensed veterinary technician. When she isn’t out truck-hunting, she likes to spend her time working with horses.
